I'm going to show you how to make a Japanese Teishoku. A Japanese Teishoku is a traditional "Set Meal" which has a lot of components. This Japanese Teishoku will have five meals containing, Teriyaki Salmon, Salad, miso soup, Japanese pickles, and a spicy tuna Onigiri!
How I made this Japanese Teishoku
Ingredients:
For the Salmon:
Boneless, Skin on fillet fresh or frozen.
Fresh or Premade Teriyaki Sauce
Salad with a dressing
Japanese Pickles (I was eating white and yellow Diakon Radish ones. There are many varieties so check the fridge of your local Asian supermarket).
Instant Miso Soup (this also has many varieties and can be often found in Asian Supermarkets as well as in the Ethnic section of your local super market).
For the Onigiri:
Fresh Rice,
Rice Vinegar
Sugar
1 can of Tuna in water
Kewpie Mayo (or regular, but NOT miracle whip)
Sriracha
Sushi or Onigiri Nori (seaweed)
Instructions for the Onigiri:
Mix in a little sugar and vinegar into the freshly made rice to taste.
Mix one can of tuna, with about 2 tablespoons of Mayo, and 1 tablespoon of Sriracha. Feel free to increase or decrease according to your preference.
Lay plastic wrap on a table and spread out a thin layer of rice.
Add about 1-2 tablespoons of the tuna in the center and using your hands in an "L" shape, begin to wrap the rice around the filling and shape into a traditional triangle shape. Once done, wrap in the seaweed wrapper and add a dot of Sriracha to the top.
