Halloween Treats: Candied Maple Bacon and a Sleepy Hollow Halloween Cocktail

Just because you're stuck indoors handing out candy to little monsters, doesn't mean it can't be disgustingly delightful. These Halloween Treats will be ghosts before you know it!

Candied Maple Bacon:

Ingredients:

  • 1lb of thick cut bacon

  • 1/3 Cup of Maple Syrup

  • 1/2 Cup Dark Brown Sugar

Instructions:

1.) Pre-heat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.

2.) Take a large cookie sheet and cover it in aluminum foil. After that place a cookie rack on top. This will allow heat to reach the top and bottom of the bacon.

3.) Lay the bacon in a single layer on the cookie rack and baste it with the maple syrup and sprinkle on the brown sugar.

4.) Put in the oven for 15 minutes.

5.) Once the 15 minutes are up, remove, and flip the bacon, then repeat step 3 again on the other side.

6.) Place bacon back into the oven for another 15 minutes but start checking on it at around the 10-minute mark.

7.) Once it's done, remove it from the oven and allow it to cool for 10 minutes till it's safe to eat.

Sleepy Hollow Halloween Cocktail:

Ingredients:

  • A bar set with a muddler and cocktail shaker

  • 2 slices of fresh ginger

  • 2 oz of Bourbon

  • 3/4 oz Maple Syrup (feel free to use the same stuff you're putting on your bacon)

  • 1 pinch of ground Cinnamon

  • 1/4oz (splash) of Fresh Lemon Juice

  • 1 1/4oz Cranberry Juice

Instructions:

1.) Cut two pieces of ginger and put them into your shaker and break them up with your muddler.

2.) Add the rest of the ingredients to the shaker and then fill it 3/4ths of the way with ice. Shake away your frustrations on work, relationships, life....

3.) Take the strainer that comes with your shaker and strain out the ginger and pour the liquid in a glass and enjoy, but be careful....The Headless Horseman probably lost his head after drinking one of these.
