Five Awesome Finds for April

Updated: Dec 24, 2023

This month I’ve researched a lot about how to make the best use of quarantine time and how to maintain a sense of life that I can bring with me once this is all over. The following are five articles that I found either helpful, interesting, empowering, or just fun. I hope you enjoy reading these as much as I did!

1.) One Punch Man Challenge

So guys…I am a little nerdy… I play Magic the Gathering. I play World of Warcraft when I have time and I occasionally watch anime…not every anime so you can’t call me a Weeaboo. I do have a list of anime’s that I love and One Punch Man is on there. It’s a story about a guy who decides he’s going to be a professional superhero. The story is bizarre in the only way Japanese anime can be, but it has inspired a lot of people to get healthy. The main character, while having a very plain face, is absolutely ripped. He credits his body, abilities, and even hair loss to his training regimen of 100 push-ups, 100 sit-ups, 100 squats, and a 10km run (which can actually hurt you so watch the accompanying video by a trainer explaining how to do this in a healthy way). Not surprisingly people have decided to give this workout a go with incredible results! All of these things with exception to the run can be done indoors, and if you are going to go outside for a 10km run social distancing should be observed (at least at the time of writing this article). 2.) History of Magic the Gathering

Magic the Gathering has been around since 1993 and has a MASSIVE community around it. You can play online, but I personally really enjoy the art on the cards and the way playing with other people feels (though online is a great option if you find yourself alone during this pandemic. It’s a great game to play as a group or even as just a couple and the games if played well can be truly epic! To learn more about Magic the Gathering click HERE.

3.) “I spent 12 Years in a Cave”

This article really shows how being isolated can actually be a really beautiful experience. This is an account given by a Buddhist Nun and her experience being in isolation. One like I liked was about how “I grew potatoes and turnips in the little garden outside. The day was very structured: four times a day I would sit and meditate in a traditional meditation box for three hours, and that’s where I slept, sitting up”. This was a fantastically interesting article and it really changed how I think about time alone. I also decided to throw in this reading about her as well.

4.) How to create a routine that works for you.

This article from BusyBudgeter.com  talks about how being at home can easily lead to depression if you don’t have a routine. Creating a routine that has such limitations as possibly not being able to go outside can be extremely difficult. I loved this article because it specifically shows you how to create a routine, the things you need to consider and then how to stick to it without feeling overwhelmed.

5.) How to be alone and not lonely:

Some people can be alone, yet are somehow never really lonely. THIS article by Vogue delves into the why and how’s of how to cope with loneliness in self-isolation.

So there you have it. I absolutely loved these articles and I found them extremely helpful. I hope the same for you. If you want to talk more about them, just drop me a line in the comments below. I hope that you have a beautiful day. -Heather Autumn
